Blogging Thoughts

Why Do I Blog? Let Me Count The Reasons…

  1. Blogging keeps a record of my thoughts.
  2. I could rave or rant about a lot of things.
  3. It helps me relax.
  4. It keeps me in touch with other people with similar interests. Special mention to the doctors who participate in The Blog Rounds.
  5. It’s my own little world on the net.
  6. I do earn a little something.
  7. It improves my command of English.
  8. I learn. About many different things.

My very first blog was supposed to be my wedding blog. I joined the weddingsatwork yahoogroup when I was preparing for my wedding, and the in-thing then was blogging. So I started my first blog. Unfortunately, I was even less internet savvy then. After a few posts, I found that for some reason I could not find my blog. It didn’t even reach my wedding day.

My second blog is currently the most active blog that I have, The Working Mom. It was on the blogspot platform. I started it because I had a lot of opinions about being a mom and most especially a working mom. I was not very consistent with updating my posts though, because I was a bit shy and wary about exposing all the personal details of my life on the net for everybody to see. I later attempted to shift my blog to blogchex because the latter promised to pay, all I had to do was to put out regular posts. Quite attractive because I didn’t really want to put too much effort into advertising but I do want to earn a little extra. But I never got anything from blogchex, so I moved back to blogspot and abandoned my blogchex blog. Last time I looked, blogchex is no longer active.

Family Health Tips was my first foray into a medical blog, and my first attempt at using wordpress. However, since I was talking about diseases in this blog, I really did not have the time to do all the research that I required. I would feel guilty about putting out content that is questionable, so research is a must especially for those diseases that I am no longer that familiar with. I simply did not have too much time for that, so that blog was kinda kept on hold.

Ethan’s Store is simply my online store and not a real blog. I am not very good with things like html and the like, so I thought making my “website” using the blogspot platform would be easier.

While searching for ways to earn online, I decided to put up Online Raket, which lists down the different ways that we can find some dollars online. I put down the ones that I joined and that are applicable to Pinoys (some are not kasi).
Practical Tips and More then came about. I am quite a frugal person, and I would like to share tips on being practical. :)

Joey M.D. is my actually a spin off of my first health blog. I realize that I could not put down the thoughts of being a doctor in The Working Mom, so I decided to put up another blog where I can share my thoughts of being a doctor. Hence, the tagline “A Doctor’s Journal”. It was through this journal that I got to meet other Pinoy MDs. I love being a part of a virtual medical community and sharing my thoughts and opinions with fellow doctors. Sometimes other people do not understand doctors. It does take another doctor to understand one. Oh, this one is on the wordpress.org platform.

I have another blog in the works, and another food blog which I have not updated in a while.

You may ask, why so many blogs? Because I realized that there are so many facets to my being. I am not just a working mom, I am also a doctor, a frugal person, a tsinay (the theme of the new blog I might be putting up soon, if and when I get the time).

Another practical reason for blogging is that I get a little bit of income, especially with The Working Mom and Practical Tips and More. Not yet with Joey M.D. I find that I am quite hesitant. I am not closing my doors, but I’ll have to choose carefully for this one, since I feel that this blog is really where my name is literally on the line. I want Joey M.D. to be a reputable blog and to be respected by the blogging community.

I love the blog rounds! In fact, I was inspired to start a blog carnival, this time on parenting, on The Working Mom. Which reminds me, I am REALLY late for my roundup! (Plugging — If you are a parent, do join us!) The Blog Rounds made me examine myself as a doctor…without being too academic about it. You get to hear about what other Pinoy MDs think about certain things. Sometimes we don’t think the same way other people do, and sometimes we find ourselves in situations other people don’t find themselves in.

So, Bone MD, I am so glad to find The Blog Rounds, or to put it more correctly, The Blog Rounds found me. I remember it was Prudence M.D. who invited me to join in TBR2. I did and so far I’ve always submitted an article. This is a great way to socialize with you guys and share my thoughts. And since most topics are well thought out, the resulting blog posts could have stood on their own even without a blog carnival. Which is not to put down the blog carnival but merely saying that the topics raised is a great source of idea for the next blog post.

This is my entry to TBR13 (or should it be TBR12?) hosted by Bone MD. I hope I make it in time, but if not, this is still a great topic to talk about.

I have actually only one really active blog, the one on blogger aside from one I keep as a local organizer for an international research forum for university students… I usually use my multiply account to cross-post (and it has everything from both blogs plus private entries!) Kudos to you for keeping so many blogs. Having just one main one is already a lot to me!

I did not realize you are such a busy blogger.

I used to have 3 blogs - marriage tips parenting tips and blogging tips but I cannot promote them fairly because I also have a factory job. So I gave up the first one and modified my 2nd one and make it a family tips blog. However, I transferred some posts on my first blog to my family tips blog.

By the way, I saw all the entries on the 2nd edition of PPBC and I am looking forward for the 3rd one.

Thanks for the kind words for my entry. I appreciate it very much.

I congratulate you for having gone through the process of refining your blogs till you finally found one that you are passionate about.

I guess as with everyone else, life is a growing process. You have kept at it and I think that itself is a great achievement. Change is the only constant.

I have only one blog. I do kept changing the contents, the designs and improving to keep it relevant. Let us keep encouraging each other to press on. Kudos and good work on Joey MD, where your passion is.

Grabe, dami mong blogs! You know my complex MegaLife and while I have multiples of other things (including children), the blog is one of those few things under my control where I can choose to keep just one. ;) I am glad you have Joey MD. I learn a lot from it and from you.
Thanks for the reminder about the PPBC. Gotta really catch up now! I’ll try to join the next one.

To everybody — Dami nga no? Sometimes I do feel as if I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. But hey, I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I like blogging more than watching TV and when I’m not at work, I’m home anyways.
