Last Sunday…

Last Sunday, we (except hubby who had to go to Marikina) trooped to my grandmother’s house for lunch.  It was an advance celebration of 3 birthdays, my Tita’s, my brother’s and my cousin’s.  We had lechon, paella, Chinese birthday misua, lengua, baked fish…among others.  It was a great lunch!

To make the trip even more exciting for all of us, my brother and my cousins decided to try linking up to a live streaming of the fight between Pacquiao and Cotto.  Since we don’t have any Direct TV Packages that we could use, they had to get creative.

Since my uncle had installed wi fi in my grandma’s house, and it was a PLDT DSL account, it seemed workable.  My brother installed a certain program on his laptop (forgot what it’s called) so that we’ll have access to the live streaming.  My cousin, brought an LCD projector so that everybody can watch.  You see, we may have cable, but for fights like this, you either have to subscribe to pay-per-view, watch it in a place like Kamayan which offers a package that includes meals, go watch in in some theater or stadium or maybe hook up to one of those Direct TV Offers that feature sports events like these.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out too well.  We were able to catch perhaps 1 or 2 rounds, then no more.  I am not sure what the problem was.

We ended up watching the delayed telecast on free TV (GMA), but of course, it ended way later than the actual bout.  It made me wish that we could avail of one of those Direct TV Deals for such anticipated sports events like Pacman’s bouts.

Of course, we all know that Manny eventually made history by winning this bout, and as a result, became the first boxer to win 7 titles in 7 weight divisions.  Way to go Manny!
