Subic, Here We Come!
Finally! We’re gonna have a family trip and we’re very excited about it! There’s really not much you can do with a small baby in tow, but hey, we want to make the most out of it.
The last time we went out of town was in 2006, and it was not even a “real” vacation. It was simply a midyear convention which happened to be in Tagaytay. To maximize our trip, we brought along our then 8 month old son so that we could have a family outing. My sister-in-law and a yaya (nanny) also came along so they could watch our son while we were attending the convention. It was a relatively short drive out of Manila and we brought along my mom’s SUV, so even with a lot of baby stuff, it still was not too much of a hassle. The next conventions were outside driving distance so we opted not to go.
Now, my mom and my brothers want to go to Subic. We’re going along, of course! It is a chance for us to relax and enjoy some time together as a family. We’ve targetted this coming weekend because it’s supposed to be a long, long holiday because of a Muslim holiday. The bummer is that Malacanang made an announcement that it’s not going to be a holiday after all! But since we already booked the rooms and plans are in place, we’ve decided to take our leaves for a breather.
We’ve booked two rooms (budget constraints…). Some of us (probably the nannies) will have to bunk on sleeping bags as there may not be enough beds for everybody.
We plan to go to Ocean Adventure. We’re expecting a lot of walking, so we have to wear comfortable shoes. I’ve fired up my son’s excitement by telling him that we’ll be going to see dolphins and whales. I googled for pictures and told him we’ll be seeing REAL dolphins and whales. He’s been pretty excited since then.
I still have to go shopping for stuff that we have to bring. Ok, 4 more days to do that! I better hurry!
